Inter-American Center

  • The Inter-American Cultural and Trade Center - Interama - is designed to be “the first permanent international exposition in the world - designed to bring to the people of all nations the best examples of culture, festivals, sports, government, industry and leisure activities.”

  • Hugh Ferris, who was involved with the 1939 New York World’s Fair, produces most of the renderings for the initial design phase of the project. Rudolph is brought in as a design consultant, along with Alfred Browning Parker, Rufus Nims, Tripp Russell, Russell Pancoast, and Luis Malaussena. The design team is led by Miami architect Robert Fitch Smith.

  • The project is developed over several decades, with Rudolph later given the design for the International Bazaar for the international area of the Interama Project in the 1960’s.
